My name is Deb and, that's me in the upper right with my two current pals; Skylar and Oreo. Skylar, a boxer/pitbull female is a craigslist rescue 7 years ago; the best tennis ball retriever ever. Oreo, a Boston Terrier/Pug male, is a "tough situation" rescue in April of 2016; and THE VERY BEST SNUGGLING DOG in the entire world!
In the picture to the left, my mom is enjoying a sunny day in the courtyard playing tennis with Skylar. Other than being a bit nervous at first about the wheelchair, Skylar retrieved with gusto, dropping the ball in mom's lap so she could reach it easily to toss it again. The residents of the nursing home loved her and, not only did she receive lots of petting, some food bits found their way to her also.
My love for animals nurtured naturally, growing up on a dairy farm with dogs, horses, cats, and cows around me, even a few pigs. My greatest passion, lasting from the days of pony rides at the fair when I was 3, through my 50's, was HORSES. This is my daughter riding my all-time favorite, most exasperating, most comfortable, and most deeply missed horse: Oreo [Yes, the girls named my dog after him]. Sometimes it's hard to describe the why of this relationship because he was not a gelding anyone wanted to own. His mischief-making personality under saddle and around the farm were huge annoyances to many. Maybe that's why I loved him: I do still have a preference for the least, lost, lonely and the imps. He lived to be 30+ and is buried at my friend's home.
Living for 6 decades has allowed me to raise many pets and feel love for each of them. The tough side of that has been losing many pets along the way. When I say "I can feel your pain", it is true. This site is dedicated to those pets who gave me unconditional love when I was hurting and rescued me from some of the pain life has thrown my way over the years. We all have our stories of pet love and loss. May this site and the products we carry help you honor your pet with a lasting memorial as well as begin the process of healing for you. Check out our "MemoryLane" page and share your pet story.
